Sessions are available over video chat, phone or in-person. In-person services are generally only available in the vicinity of Ottawa-Gatineau, Canada, though there may be exceptions. As I have no physical office, in person sessions are often done via home visit or walks (ideally in nature). Walks infact can be ideal for deep and supportive discussions and practices.
There are many ways to define this. It is a path toward inner and outer well-being. It is an approach to life that allows more peace and contentedness, regardless of what the world throws at us. It is a path of self-awareness and seeing the truth of our experience behind the mental noise. It creates space for deeper connection with ourselves, others, and the world.
When I use the world spiritual, it is not refering to any particular religion or set of beliefs. It is pointing to something more universal, yet at the same time something more personal to you and your unique path. We can explore more if we work together.
As a coach, my job is to help you tap into your innate wisdom, develop a vision for your life and next steps, and find renewed passion and enthusiasm. I am also responsible for holding you accountable for action steps that you decide on and commit to in our sessions.
Unlike with therapy, in a coaching session there is no dwelling on past problems and traumas. Though of course challenges will come up, in general the coaching approach is a very positive and forward-looking. My services are not a replacement for therapy and other heath care, but can act as a complement.
My personal style as a coach aims to create an informal, easygoing atmosphere that emphasizes comfort and building a supportive relationship with you. I want each session to be uplifting, enjoyable, and empowering!
I am trained in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction for teens (MBSR-T), the official adaptation of the original MBSR for a younger audience. It shares lots of similarities to the adult program, teaching concepts such as present moment awareness, taking in the good moments, and mitigating harmful behaviours through empowered choices.
As for yoga, I have certifications in several physical styles including Hatha and Gentle Yoga. I also have specialized experience in Therapeutic Yoga and Yoga for pain. Beyond the physical, I have taken trainings in yogic self-development, Kundalini and Dream Yoga at Yasodhara Ashram in British Columbia.
With regards to meditation, I have significant experience with Buddhist Vipassana meditation and yogic styles of meditation. I meditate every single day.
While many of the teachings have their root in Eastern religions, the focus of my offerings is on cultivating personal well-being and empowerment, not religious instruction.
I am pleased to work people of all genders, races, cultures and backgrounds who are aged 18 and older (and occasionally younger teens, with parental support). It is important that people I work with are ready to make a commitment to spiritual growth, wellness and/or personal development. You may be an ideal fit for my offerings is you are:
While coaching and wellness practices like meditation and yoga can help most people, it is important to note that I am not qualified to diagnose or treat mental illness and my services do not replace those of a therapist. If you are seeing a therapist, it may be a good idea to talk with them about whether my services could benefit you.
